About Commission on Youth Issues (COYI)
Union of the Baltic
Cities (UBC) is a constantly growing
organisation with over
100 member
cities in ten countries around
the Baltic Sea. UBC consists of eleven
commissions where most of the work takes
place.
In 2003, a Network on Youth Issues was
established during the VII General
Conference in Klaipėda.
In 2005, at the General Conference in Turku,
the Network was "upgraded" to a Commission
on Youth Issues.
Why youth
issues?
Youth is a very important resource to develop both the
cities and the region. The participation of
youth brings in new dimensions, perspectives
and expertise in the municipal work. This is
the core of the commission work.
The Commission on Youth Issues works
actively to promote youth co-operation in
the Baltic Sea Region and works towards
youth influence and participation in the UBC
member cities.
